An Nam Herring with Soy Sauce served with white rice and stir-fried bok choy

🧂 Ingredients

  • 1 can of An Nam Black Bean Sauce Herring

  • Steamed white rice

  • 1 bunch of bok choy (or substitute with Chinese mustard greens or choy sum)

  • Some chopped green onions, minced garlic

  • Black bean sauce from the can of herring

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare the vegetables
Wash the bok choy thoroughly. If the stalks are large, cut them in half.
Heat a pan with a little oil, sauté garlic until fragrant.
Add bok choy, stir-fry quickly with a pinch of salt and some of the black bean sauce.

  2. Cook the herring
Heat another pan (or reuse the same one), add a bit more oil if needed.
Sauté minced garlic until fragrant, then add the An Nam Black Bean Sauce Herring, gently stir to warm through and let the flavors meld.

  3. Assemble the dish
Serve hot steamed rice on a plate.
Arrange the stir-fried bok choy on the side.
Drizzle the remaining sauce over the rice or keep it separate depending on preference.
Sprinkle with chopped green onions and a dash of pepper if desired.

🍽 Enjoy

Best enjoyed hot with steamed rice. The savory bok choy stir-fried in black bean sauce perfectly balances the meal.

💡 Little tips

  • You can swap white rice for brown rice or soft sticky rice for extra nutrition.

  • For a mild spicy kick, add a few slices of chili or some satay sauce on the side—it’s delicious!
